Power of inspection, etc.
Power to require execution of work, etc. Admissibility of document or entry as evidence. A Board may- a charge for the occupation or use of any stall, shop, standing, shed or pen in a public market, or public slaughter-house, or for the right to expose goods for sale in a public market, or for weighing or measuring goods sold therein, or for the right to slaughter animals in any public slaughter-house, such stallages, rents and fees as it thinks fit; or b with the sanction of the Officer Commanding-in-Chief, the Command, farm the stallages, rents and fees leviable as aforesaid or any portion thereof for any period not exceeding one year at a time; or c put up to public auction, or with the sanction of the Officer Commanding-in-Chief, the Command, dispose of by private sale, the privilege of occupying or using any stall, shop, standing, shed or pen in a public market or public slaughter-house for such term and on such conditions as it thinks fit.

The Board may empower any of its members or officers to exercise or perform in the absence of the Executive Officer from the cantonment all or any of such powers or duties of an Executive Officer under this Act as the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, specify in this behalf.
Provided that no order shall be made under this section against any person unless he has had a reasonable opportunity of being informed of the grounds on which it is proposed to make the order and of showing cause why the order should not be made.
Rules and bye-laws to be available for inspection and purchase.
Supply of water from Government water-supply to the Board. Subject to the provisions of clause b and clause d of sub-section 1 ofsection 22 the Executive Officer shall. The Officer Commanding the station may, on receiving information that any building in the cantonment is used as a brothel or for purposes of prostitution, by order in writing setting forth the substance of the information received, summon the owner, lessee, tenant or occupier of the building to appear before him either in person or by an authorised agent, and, if the Officer Commanding the station is then satisfied as to the truth of the information, he may, by order in writing, direct the owner, lessee, tenant or occupier, as the case may be, to discontinue such use of the building within such period as may be specified in the order.

Repayments in cash or by transfer shall be noted against the original credit in the column for the month in which the refund is made and a total of the postings shall be made at the end of the month and agreed with the corresponding figure in the classified abstract.

SANCTION FOR BUILDING – No person shall erect or re-erect a building on any land in a cantonment- a in an area, other than the civil area, except with the previous sanction of the Board; b in a civil area, except with the previous sanction of the Executive Officer, nor otherwise than in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter and of the rules and bye-laws made under this Act relating to the erection and re-erection of building. Power to require water-supply to be taken. The submission of such report shall not in any case debar the local authorities from taking any action which may be deemed necessary.
This new section is being introduced to enable the Officer Commanding-in-Chief. Act 15 of l Clause It is considered that no permission of I he Board should berequired undersection of the Act for the purpose of illumination on the occasion of a festival or public or private entertainment as it isdifricult to control such celebration.
